Due to the high water temperatures, South West Lakes Trust have suspended catch and release. Temperatures have been as high as 24 deg. centigrade which will put the fish under a lot of stress and mortalities are far more likely to occur after capture. It looks like the temperatures are beginning to drop to 20 degrees as measured recently by one of our members.
We decided to cancel the last evening comp again due to high water temperatures but are planning to hold the evening competition on Friday 21st August.
The following day is a free members casting instruction day. These days have been opened up to non members to encourage participation in fly fishing and has resulted in a few new members joining. Ron has advertised these events on the Angling Trust events page and the uptake has been excellent.
As usual the fly tying evening at millenium Hall will be held at 7pm next Tuesday 11th August. All welcome
