I fished Siblyback on Friday, 11/10/24, with some of the other SFFA guys.
A Perfect Day I visited siblyback for my regular Friday session and as usual met up with other SFFA members. Arrived mid morning to to be greeted with warm and sunny conditions with a brisk south easterly breeze. We fished Two Meadows and around to North Shore and then back to Two Meadows. There were no signs of any fish moving at the surface and only managed to net a couple of fish between us having fished hard. I managed 1 on black and green beaded tadpole.
We retired to the café about 2.00 for our usual coffee and chat to put the world to rights. The other guys called it a day and I went back down to Two Meadows. About 3.30 the wind dropped to a gentle breeze and the fish began to show on the surface. I put on couple of buzzers with a hedgehog daddy on the point. Over the next hour or so I netted a further 4 rainbows and lost a similar number. There were numerous missed takes along the way with many slashes at the hedgehog and nips at the buzzers. After an exciting hour or so the fish turned off as quickly as they turned on despite still showing at the surface. A move along to Crylla proved no more successful. During our coffee break the subject of snake patterns had been discussed as some members had used them with great success, especially for the better brownies. I had never used a snake before but decided to give it a go with a huge, as far as I was concerned, black and gold offering. This proved to be a real challenge to cast but I managed to successfully get the beast out on a few occasions. These were met with very confident takes. The result was a further 3 rainbows to the net and several more lost.
With regard to the specimen brownie the best was saved to the last fish of the session. Following a savage take and a tense struggle a 10cm brownie on the 10cm snake was brought to the net. A very optimistic individual!!!! This fish and the increasing attention of the midges brought the session to a close. Warm sunny weather, gentle breeze, stunning location, excellent fishing and good company. A perfect day.
