The floating line comp was very successful with a strong group of good anglers taking part on the day – Barry Jones who travelled from the Falmouth area landed the biggest fish of the day at 49cm weighed in at 2 1/2lbs well done Barry.
members fished all around the lake with mixed results Two meadows and Crylla bay were not so favourable with just three fish landed from these area’s.
The wind was a Moderate northerly – well that’s what the forecast said – Anyone who knows Siblyback will know the wind direction is variable depending on what area of the lake you’re standing. Similar to the wind speed – on the north shore not too bad but west bank was quite chilly I did not make it to stocky bay I thought difficult to stand up let alone cast a line.
Well this is were the event winner fished and landed 7 superb rainbows and another four brownie’s.
Well Done Andy Fotheringham.
Ben Eliot also landed 7 rainbows but not quite as big. Andy’s total length of Rainbows = 280cm and Bens = 269cm
I fished with Ian along north shore then west bank and the last hour back at north shore. We landed 12 cracking rainbows between us, most fighting well above there weight and on barbless hooks, we had some great sport but lost a few good sized rainbows between us. Successful flies used were – Beetle, Booby tadpole, Black & peacock, Viva, Vicar buzzer.
The rod average for the day = 5.14 Rainbows (does not include the a good number of brown trout landed) which for a competition is fantastic.
Well done everyone, another great days fishing at Siblyback thank you to everyone that took part.
