In July 2021 Siblyback Flyfishers Association held an open day at the Lake where anyone interested was invited to have a go at Casting, and Fly-tying.
Snowbee’s Simon Kidd came along with a range of their latest Prestige Graphene rods.
Hooks and Hackles attended in the fly-tying tent with a fantastic display of their packs of top of the range hackles plus other fly-tying materials.
Dave Matthews, from the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (AAPGAI) was on hand to offer free casting instruction.
The event was well attended and those attending all had a go at casting some of the latest rods.
John Tootell, club member and one of the invasive species officers had collected a sample of Siblyback’s invertebrates which was of interest to all fly fishermen and many other members of the public.
Later in the day Dave Matthews gave a demonstration of Spey casting which was very informative.
The club plans to hold a similar event later this year, but in the mean-time there is South West Lakes Trusts ‘Taster Day’ at Siblyback on 14th April. This involves free fishing and fly-tying instruction. You can book a place here
