We held a committee meeting last week and have finalised details of the planned events this year. It’s going to be action packed with 32 events arranged for members. These include a fly tying evening on the first Tuesday of every month, 4 members only casting instruction days where members can receive free of charge casting instruction from Dave Matthews, an Advanced instructor with the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (AAPGAI).
Monthly competitions from March until October including a mini league of 4 evening competitions in July and August. We will be entering teams into the Snowbee teams of 4 competition at Siblyback in April.
We will be repeating the hugely successful Fishing and BBQ day again where members can meet, fish together and enjoy a BBQ with the club paying for the food.
South West Lakes trust will be holding a ‘taster day’ at the lake in April which was a success last year with 40+ attendees.
Lastly and most important we will be hosting an Open Competition in memory of the late Wes Ower, with proceeds from entry fees going to Cornwall Air Ambulance. We hope as many anglers from the club as possible will take part, together with many of Wes’s friends in the fishing world as this is a competition open to all. South West Lakes Trust have very kindly donated a £200 voucher for the winner.
