Full kit provided for those new to tying fliesHi everyone\, \nIt has been a great start to the season with plenty of action for those who have managed to get to siblyback.\nWe had the first competition of the year at the weekend with a big well done to Pete Williams for winning.\nTomorrow evening is our regular monthly fly tying session at Pensilva village hall.\nThis week the theme is going to be bloodworms. These are the larval stage of the midge prior to developing into buzzers before rising to the surface and hatching into midges. There have already been reports of buzzer hatches so some bloodworm patterns may be useful.\nThe basic materials list is :\nSize 10\,12 or 14 standard wet fly hooks. Curved grub hooks are also useful.\nRed and black tying thread.\nRed flexifloss\nRed and black glass beads\nBrass beads\nRed marabou\nVarnish /uv resin\nAs usual if there are any materials you don’t have don’t worry as I am sure I can spare some.\nIf you have never tried to tie your own flies and fancy having a go please come and join us.\nCheers\,\nAndy Fotheringham\n

DESCRIPTION:Wes Ower Memorial Charity Competition \nSiblyback Lake\, Sunday 8th March 2026 \nAll entry fees will be donated to the Cornwall Air Ambulance  \nEntry fee is £10 \nAnglers must also be in possession of a SWLT 5 fish day permit or a relevant season ticket. Please note reception is poor on site and you will not be able to purchase the day permit on site. \nWinner receives £200 SWLT Voucher and annual Trophy \n2nd and 3rd prizes\, fly box with flies \n\nRegistration will be from 0745 to 0830 in the site office adjacent to the old permit room car park. Tea/Coffee/biscuits available.\nCompetition entry fee £10 (cash only) payable at registration\nDraw will be made for zones (A or B)\nZone A is from water sports hut to hedge on opposite side (West Bank) includes Stocky Bay. Zone B includes Two Meadows\, North Shore and part of West Bank.\nNo fishing zones – infront of the Centre between hedges\, from the dam\, and nature reserve (from bird hide to line across to opposite bank)\nBriefing 8.45am\nFishing from 0930 to 1230 in drawn zone. Half hour lunch and anglers to swap to other zone. Fish 1300 to 1600. Horn will sound at beginning and end of each session.\nMaximum of 4 fish per zone. Maximum 5 fish in total.
